Learn Blues Guitar With Feeling

Hi, I’m Bas de Beer — blues guitarist and teacher.

I help guitar players develop authentic blues phrasing, vibrato, feel and musical confidence in a relaxed and encouraging way.

Whether you are:

  • returning to guitar
  • beginner friendly
  • or trying to move beyond scales into real musical expression

these lessons are designed to help you sound more expressive and connected to your playing.

Using a simple visual learning system with real-time fretboard guidance, I’ll help you:

  • understand the fretboard more naturally,
  • improve your phrasing and tone,
  • and build authentic blues solos that tell a story.

Lessons are taught online via Zoom and are suitable for beginners through advanced players.

Teaching Style

In this short video I explain how my blues guitar lessons work. I also demonstrate my visual fretboard system, which allows you to clearly see the notes and phrasing I’m playing. Many students find that this makes it much easier to understand what is happening on the guitar.

Want to sound more like a real blues player?

Here’s exactly what you’ll get:

  • A video showing 4 basic licks ready to use in real playing and a bluesgroove.
  • All displayed on the Virtual Fretboard so easy to follow
  • Three killer backing tracks to practice immediately
  • Lesson about a natural sounding vibrato technique
  • Various online resources to support your guitar journey and a download tool for YT videos

Who I Help

My lessons are ideal for:

  • Beginners who want to start the right way and avoid bad habits
  • Guitar players who freeze when it’s time to solo
  • Players who want to move beyond scales and start sounding like real blues players
  • Intermediate players who want better phrasing, feel, and confidence on the fretboard

Free Review Of Your Playing

If you’re a first time student here I offer a free 15 minute consult. In my Facebook group you can post a video of your playing, I’ll review it and talk to you about it on a Zoom call. I offer personal guidance tailored to your level and style.

Curious how I play?

There is a lot more in the Jam+ page but here are some highlights

This one came out naturally during a jam session and just clicked. Fast, expressive phrasing with a bit of attitude and space to breathe.

Played on my Les Paul-style guitar — back in rotation and sounding better than ever.

If you like blues rock with groove, feel, and a bit of fire, this one’s for you.

Dark, emotional blues guitar with a James Bond-style vibe.

Slow bends, space, and tension — focused on phrasing, not speed.

If you like expressive blues playing and minor blues moods, you’ll feel this one.

A cute jazzy tune from Tom Bailey. When I just started playing backingtracks in 2017 I played a lot of Tom’s tracks. We became good friends and I still do some admin work for his Facebook group
