Sometimes a piece of music just asks you to stop thinking and play.
This slow B minor blues ballad gave me that kind of space. There’s a strong Gary Moore influence in the backing track, but rather than trying to imitate anyone, I simply followed where the music wanted to go — trying to let the guitar breathe, leave space between the notes, and allow the melody to carry the emotion.
One listener described the music as having a mixture of “depth, sorrow and sweetness” and told me that it unexpectedly brought her to tears. I can’t think of a greater compliment for an instrumental performance. Music can sometimes express things that are very difficult to put into words.
