A melodic rock guitar improvisation in C minor, played over a cinematic synth-rock backing track at 88 BPM.
For this performance I wanted to build the solo more like a song than a collection of licks — starting with space and melody, then gradually bringing in more intensity as the track develops.
C minor gives you plenty of room for that kind of playing: melodic phrases, bends, vibrato and sustained notes can sit alongside the heavier rock moments without losing the emotional character of the piece.
This is also very much the approach I use in my guitar lessons: knowing the scale is only the beginning. The interesting part is learning to see the fretboard, follow the harmony and turn those notes into music.
