My Brother is a slow-building, dark and moody 80s-style rock ballad backing track in G# minor at 80 BPM.

This one takes its time. It begins spacious and restrained, giving you plenty of room to develop melodic ideas, before gradually building in intensity. Around the three-minute mark it really starts to open up, making it a great track for building a solo from quiet, expressive phrases into something bigger and more powerful.

After I studied the progression a bit I just went for it. Cubase allows me to look at the chords while they are played which helps a lot.

For this version of Little Wing, I spent some time looking into the chordal style Jimi Hendrix used so beautifully.

One thing I found particularly interesting was how Hendrix would embellish fairly simple chord shapes with additional notes — often the 6th and 9th — while mixing chord tones with little melodic phrases around them. It’s a big part of what gives his rhythm playing that flowing, almost lead-guitar quality.

Relax and enjoy this slow blues backing track in A minor at 65 BPM. Although it’s a slow groove, it’s mellow and features a fantastic rhythm section that really carries the song.

Listening to it reminded me of seeing B.B. King live years ago. His band was absolutely top-notch, especially the rhythm section. And while I’m a guitar player, I’m a complete sucker for a great groove.

This is one of those backing tracks that invites you to slow down and focus on phrasing rather than speed. While it’s not a traditional blues progression, it has a soulful groove with plenty of space for expressive bends, vibrato, melodic soloing and spaces where you just enjoy the lick you just played and let the silence do it’s part as well.
